The special effect artist would be on a contract. This is because they can be contracted to work on a set amount of films or they can work on project that they need to do for smaller companies or advisements. The contract would be about what they have to do for the job and how much they would get paid as well as the budget that they have to create the item needed.  It will have the time it is needed to be on the set. The director will be the one that checks it’s what is needed for the film. The pay can be quite high. In 2010 a salary could be $50,000. This was according to Indeed. You are paid after you have completed a project and the director approves of it.  The hours that you need to work are long and you will work on weekends as well. You also will be working with over people that could be other artist employed as well. You will be working on set with the equipment and the actors and over people around you. The skills that are needed to be an artist is to be able to work in a group, to use specific software that is used every day or specialised to the job, artistic talent. Some of the education skills that you need can be taught in art schools or graphic designer courses. You will all so need to start at the bottom and work your way up to where you want to be. You will probably have to learn from a more expensed artist. Some of the qualifications needed are a diploma or degree in computer science, art or film. Also depending on what area you want to go into you will need a bachelor’s degree like if you were an animator you would need a bachelor’s degree in animation. To go in Pyrotechnics you will need to take a supervised apprenticeship for three years and then have a license to do it as well as an explosive permit.
