Screen printing process

To coat the screen with the photosensitive emulsion you need to use the scraper with the emulsion to spread evenly. When this has been done tern the screen where the drips are not going to run over the hole screen. This will help it to be even surfers and this will help the screen printing be easier and cleaner.
To burn the screen on the light box you need to turn on the light box so it can warm up. When the light box has warm up put the screen on with the positive film under the screen and out it flat side down. Then close the box and put the clamps on so you can turn on the vacuum on. Then push the start button and hold it down for about 5 seconds or until the counter starts down in light not seconds.

To screen print you need to have the screen propped up and then mark out where it will be. Then put the paper underneath the screen and mark it out. When this is done you use the pallet knife to put the ink on one end of the image that is burned. Then uses the squeegee to spread the ink over the image and have the squeegee at a 45 degrees angle. Then move it across the screen and then when you get to the end move the squeegee back and forward to get some of the excess of and then repeat it going back. Then lift the screen up and prop it up so the ink doesn’t smudge.

The heath and safety things to think of in the studio are not to bring bag and coats down to the room. This is because it can clutter the room up. Also to wash hand after using the ink because it’s toxic. Have no food and drink because in the room because of the ink that is toxic. When washing the screen you need to put the sine up to show the floor is wet.
